About Us

Who is...This is your Kingdom?

Hello! We’re Hannah and Rebecca, founders of This is Your Kingdom. Hailing from Devon and friends since school, we have always shared a love for life’s simple pleasures and seeking out lovely new things. Whether it be a favourite blustery walk, handmade keepsake, or a special spot to indulge in some locally-sourced homemade grub, for us, nothing beats stumbling upon a real gem - something a bit special or unexpected.

It was while chatting about our latest lovely discoveries that we discussed how wonderful it would be to create an online community where people could both discover and share these invaluable insider snippets of local knowledge. So there it was, the inspiration for TiYK was born. Soon after we both packed in our somewhat sensible jobs and joined forces to create TiYK

Since we launched in March 2010, we have met lots of inspiring people, unearthed reams of insider information and helped lots of local businesses along the way. This year we hope to achieve even more and have started a blog so you can follow our adventures along the way!

My favourite things are...

Mum's victoria sponge. Blustery walks, sunny days, green grass and bright blue skies. Hunting for trinkets. Family, friends and my dear friend Jim. And, of course, all things British.

What is...This is your Kingdom?

This is Your Kingdom
is an insider’s guide to lovely local things to see and do in the UK. We are here to help you ‘live and love local’ by raising awareness of inspiring local businesses and showcasing all the brilliant people making, baking and creating across the UK.

We do this by asking ‘in-the-know’ local folk to divulge details of their
favourite places to ‘eat, drink, walk, think, potter, ponder, snuggle, shop or sleep’. These insider snippets are then published on the site and sent out in our e-newsletters for all to enjoy.

We thrive on
local knowledge, and hope TiYK will continue to help each of you discover, share, support and celebrate all the things that make the UK so very special and unique.

If you have somewhere you would like to share with us please do
get in touch
! Each lovely thing submitted will be published on the site, fully accredited to the author. It’s a brilliant way to raise awareness of your local area and fly the flag for your county!

Our Guiding Principles

We love the UK... even when it rains. TiYK is all about celebrating the UK, providing you with unique insider information that will allow you to make the most of your county and give something back.

We love local... TiYK is about living locally - celebrating, supporting and raising awareness of local places, people and produce. This way the money you spend will be reinvested in your local community making it an even nicer place to live and breathe.

We are avid believers in the importance of community... TiYK endeavours to create a sense of community and patriotism by increasing local awareness, encouraging people to be proud of the county in which they live.

We are an eco friendly bunch... TiYK hope to play a part in reducing your carbon footprint by helping you live (and love..) locally.

Where is...This is your Kingdom?

Our main presence is currently in
Hampshire (Bec) and London (Han) by nature of the counties we inhabit. However, thanks to all you TiYKers we already have ideas for lovely things to see and do in Devon, East Sussex, Oxfordshire, Cornwall and continue to add exciting snippets of insider knowledge for new counties across the UK each and every day.

One day we hope there will be an edition of TiYK in each and every county within the UK and would love to hear from likeminded people (like you!) who are interested in helping us to achieve this.

How can I join the team?

We are always on the look out for budding writers, bloggers small business owners and local folk to help us on our quest to seek out the most lovely local things to see and do across the UK.

If you would like to get involved, simply
send us a little article about your favourite local thing (sadly this cannot be your own venture) and, provided it fulfills our ‘lovely and local' criteria, we will publish this on the site accompanied by a suitably detailed accreditation by way of a thank you (to include a link to your website).
