Heavenly cakes at the Cocolicious Patisserie Cafe in Cranbrook

Recently opened in the old market town of Cranbrook, Cocolicious Patisserie is by no means an ordinary cafe. With its large and fresh open spaces, pastel pink painted floorboards and comfy armchairs at the back, you feel more like you’ve entered someone’s very beautiful kitchen. The whole places strikes a lovely balance between spacious yet cosy, bustling yet calm and relaxed. And I love how the huge black pendant lights over the bar balance out the feminine surroundings.

On the wall a huge blackboard lists the many wonderful delicacies available throughout the day – from brunch and lunch through to afternoon tea. I opted for coffee and cake, which were both perfection, while my daughter enjoyed a hot chocolate topped with sprinkles and toasted marshmallow. I’m still stunned by the variety of cakes on offer; lots of unique flavours unlike anything you would make at home…or certainly in my case!

While I was there I spied large bowls of colourful salads being bought out for lunch, and resolved to return. The roasted red beetroot, spinach, seeds and goats curd salad caught my eye in particular, as did the new potato and speck parcels with minted butter. They also serve freshly made sushi and the most delicious smoothies, as well as a great wheat and gluten free alternatives.

The owners have clearly gone that extra mile in creating a special place where you could happily stay all day, and next time, I might just do that!
