It is a pleasant day indeed that combines a delicious seafood lunch with a boat trip around a pretty harbour: it is a truly marvellous one when you get a chance to potter around some interesting shops as well.
We spent such a day in the picturesque town of Fowey last summer. After enjoying calamari at Sam’s, we took a tour along the river before slowly wending our way back through the narrow streets, popping in and out of places that caught our eye.
One shop that we were unable to pass by was The Webb Street Company. Step inside and you are greeted by a simple, pared back interior of reclaimed wood, painted panelling and vintage touches: the perfect backdrop to show off the thoughtfully curated collection of homewares and gifts.
Describing themselves as ‘Purveyors of Quality’, the store is full of beautifully designed yet functional pieces: enamelware from Falcon sits alongside textiles in muted shades, shelves are stacked with covetable ceramics, jewellery and stationery, whilst quirky artwork lines the walls.
This is a shop that demands to be browsed and we happily obliged, eventually leaving with a framed print: a lovely reminder of a fabulous day and a great week in Cornwall.
