Gemma Sands

Originally from North Yorkshire, Gemma’s love affair with the English countryside began on family days out as a small child. She continued her passion for the landscape, storytelling and travel by studying Archaeology at university. After completing her degree Gemma moved to London where she spent 7 years working in the fashion industry and exploring the city.

Gemma now lives in South Yorkshire with her partner, 2 step-children, a cat and a dog. She fills her days working as a freelance designer and art director, under the name LP Studio.

Outside of the studio Gemma can be found baking bread, taking long dog walks, learning to knit or enjoying adventures with her little family. Her passion for documenting the details of the everyday and celebrating a creative lifestyle led her to start her blog, Little Pieces.

A few questions about nice things...

Who do you most admire?

Aside from my family, I admire anyone who chooses to find joy in everyday life and remain cheerful and loving regardless of circumstances. Also, anyone who is bold enough to follow their dreams and be unashamedly themselves.

What are your favourite possessions?

My camera, I’d be lost without it. My many journals and scrapbooks from childhood to present day – they are full of hopes, dreams and memories.  A bracelet given to me by my other half and a box full of letters, cards, drawings from the children and more memories.

Tell us about your perfect day or weekend...

My perfect day would start with a family breakfast of pancakes, bacon and lots of tea and all of us sat around the kitchen table chatting. Then we’d head out for a long dog walk in the Yorkshire countryside, followed by lunch at a country pub.  The evening would be for entertaining friends or curling up on the sofa with my other half and a good bottle of wine.

What makes you happiest?

Cooking a decent meal for my family, hearing my step-children laughing together, cuddles with my dog, cups of tea, crafting things and curling up on the sofa with my other half.
