Tonight saw us heading out to the launch of Mary Portas’ fabulously British brand of lingerie, Kinky Knickers which took place at one of our favourite heritage stores Liberty of London. In a bid to ‘turn the lights back on for Great British manufacturing’ Mary and her talented workforce have spent the last 4 months grafting their gussets off in a disused factory in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

The result of this labour of love is ‘Kinky Knickers’ – a truly great British made product they should all be hugely proud of. Each pair is handmade from the finest Nottingham stretch lace in 4 sizes (XS, S, M, L) and comes in 3 colourways – black, nude and fushia pink/orange. Better still they each include a little personalised something just for you.

It was a real priviledge to be there this evening to share in the success of a fantastic achievement by Mary and her team after what has clearly been a rather gritty few months. We wish them all the very best with their venture and very much look forward to watching the full story of Kinky Knickers ‘Mary’s Sweatshop’ on Channel 4 later this year.

So, here’s a very British hip hip hooray to Mary and her team (especially Georgina!) for doing their bit to #BackBritain!
