Grow Your Own
In Search of the Good Life with Capital Growth

With waiting lists for allotments stretching further than the eye can see, frustrated urban gardeners amongst us are often forced to transcend the realms of extreme gardening when seeking out that sunny spot from which to cultivate our fruit ‘n’ veg. For those of us who appreciate the special flavour only home grown harvests can truly have, help is now at hand in the form of
Capital Growth.
Led by London Food Link,
Capital Growth has the mamouth challenge of transforming 2,012 pieces of misused urban land into thriving community growing spaces by 2012. On a mission to discover and uncover Greater London’s most unlikely ‘sewing’ spots, they offer both financial and practical support to groups of enthusiastic London gardeners who are seeking some degree of sustainable living.
This Saturday, community gardens across London play host to the inaugural Capital Growth Open Gardens Day. An ideal introduction to this fabulous scheme, why not pop along and meet London's rising community of food-growers at one o
f 12 new food-growing gardens across the city. Promising to be a day of food and celebration, the Open Gardens Day offers the perfect opportunity to get involved with your local community whilst taking a step towards achieving that Good Life.
TiYK Top Tip: for the ultimate eco day out, why not hop on your two wheeled companion as a number of the gardens are placed amidst London's well kept cycle routes.
