Not Just Another Cake Shop
Hammersmith's Betty Blythe Tea Parlour

A new find close to my office in Hammersmith is a vintage tea room called
Betty Blythe. Yes, it may be another cake shop, but this French-inspired café and fine food pantry is a complete treat, especially in Hammersmith, where chain food outlets tend to dominate.
Its counter is decorated temptingly with abundant varieties of cake, old fashioned sweets in large glass jars, brownies, biscuits and macaroons. It also sells free-range eggs, rich homemade soups, genuinely good coffee and a variety of luxury condiments and pantry cupboard delights.
But here comes the best part. Betty Blythe serves afternoon tea in a charming parlour room, where guests can nibble on cucumber sandwiches and mini cupcakes while raiding the dressing up box full of vintage accessories. If you want to, you can even take your own bubbles and pay just £2.20 per person for corkage. I also know they can cater for up to 16 people for parties. Now that’s what I call elegant.
